Xavier is a master of creating instruments identical to those used by Pre-Hispanic peoples.  They are replicas of the instruments used by the Aztecs, Mayas, and other indigenous nations from Mexico. After researching museums and private collections he has been able to bring these ancient instruments back to life.  He remains faithful to the original traditions of his ancestors.  All reproductions are hand-crafted individual works of art.  Each Death Whislte is skillfully crafted by Xavier, then placed in a kiln and fired. His style of finishing makes them look as if they were excavated from the earth and centuries old.  Each instrument has it’s own unique features. A recent viral YouTube video featuring Xavier Quijas Yxayotl demonstrating his Death Whistle has created a surge of interest in this remarkable instrument.  We have received several requests for it.  But, up until now Xavier has never offered his Death Whistle for sale.  Each skull shaped whistle offers the chilling and fascinating howl that is described as the ‘scream of a thousand corpses’. These are authentic replicas of the original ancient instruments the Aztecs played just before they were sacrificed to the gods. Some historians believe that the Aztecs used to sound the death whistle in order to help the deceased journey into the underworld.
