The Traditional Native American Flute Using the Chromatic Method
By Vince Redhouse
We often get requests for songbooks that teach how to play the Chromatic scale on the Traditional Native American Flute. Until now we didn’t have one to offer. Vince is a talented performer and recording artist who has spent years in extending the range of the Native American flute to over two octaves and more amazingly, developed alternative fingerings and half-hole techniques to create the chromatic scale. This allows him to play more complex melodies and reproduce classical renditions that the limited note range of the traditional pentatonic scale will not allow.
In addition, to being a performing artist Vince is a professional Native American Flute instructor who teaches the instrument to American Indian children. He has developed a proven successful method of teaching and now makes his instruction available to you with this book/CD combination.
The book includes Rudiments of Music, Native American Flute Chromatic Finger Chart, and Instruction for playing the Native American Flute, Practice lessons and Exercises. Also, six classical songs that you can play along with Vince as he performs them on the included CD. It is a beautiful “Coffee Table” quality songbook with stunning photo’s by his wife Diane. Vince only plays flutes made by Jeff Calavan from the Oregon Flute Store’s Custom Flute shop and they are featured in the photo’s.
